Calor is latin for heat, warmth, glow, summer—all things that I was inspired by when creating this one of kind quilted piece. The entire piece was made from repurposed porch screening scraps, secondhand thread and latex paint. I wanted to create work entirely from materials I already had on hand or that already served another purpose before becoming this reimagined artwork.There’s a haiku poem I wrote to go along with it:

“Transforming purpose.

The old becoming the new.

Nothing is a waste.“

The quilted portion of the piece is approximately 22” L x 17” W. Measurements from the top to bottom of the wood hanging dowels: 24.5” L x 20” W.
